The Writer’s Side Hustle

Writers have such a wonderful skill that can be used to create a Writer Side Hustle!

Writing these days is taken for granted thanks to smart phones and auto-correct.

That is why I love to endorse Grammerly. As much as we love our emojis and #hashtags, all of this new technology makes us horrible writers.

That doesn’t mean that we don’t know how to communicate, we just communicate in a different way.

With that said, this lack of good writing skills creates a need for writers even more so today. Books need to be written. Blogs need to be blogged. Reviews need to be, well, reviewed and then posted.

But Good writers are in hot demand. That is why you see sites aimed specifically at targeting these group of people. If you are a writer, then they are aimed at you and trying to attract your expertise so that others can leverage your knowledge.

WritersWork

One such site that caters to the Writer’s Side Hustle is called WritersWork. Even their tagline is “Write your way to the life you want”. I think that’s pretty commanding and inspiring. They also offer tools to help you start your writing journey.

Right now they have a special one time sign-up fee of less than $50. Normally it is $15 a month, which still is a great deal when considering the training and opportunities that they have available, but definitely act fast so you can lock in those savings!

Check out their site for more details and to get started today!

Fiverr

Another favorite of mine is a site called Fiverr.

I love this one because of the community. Not only can you offer your Writer side hustle services to others, you can shop for services to help grow and expand your side hustle beyond your wildest dreams.

You can get help with Logo Designs, Articles and Blog posts, Graphic and Design, Podcast Art. You can literally start a business from the comfort of your living room.

Start a Blog

DreamHost

Pretty crazy idea, huh? Let’s face it. If you’re a writer, you need to be on the web in some form or fashion. What better way to start your Writer’s Side Hustle than with a BLOG!

Starting a blog is easier than ever these days. It is also fun, too, to get your thoughts and opinions out of your mind and into the world for the rest of us to read. Writing a blog can come with certain  freedoms that you are not possible with other side hustles, such as:

  • Being able to write anywhere
  • Freedom to write any time
  • Flexibility to write about anything

Later on you can find even more benefits like the several different ways to monetize your blog to help add even more cash flow to your side hustle.

You can write about anything your heart desires or you can work on your own brand and try to grow your audience that way. That is a great technique to build up traffic in certain niches and then you can even become a social media influencer.

One such name that comes to mind is Gary Vaynerchuk. Love him or hate him, you probably know who he is. He is his own brand and we could all learn a thing or two from him and his unique way or personable marketing.

Once you get your blog started, make sure you are:

  • Consistently adding new and engaging content.
  • Next, focus your efforts on SEO so your topics are ranking high in Google.
  • Finally, look at ways to monetize your blogs, such as Ads, Affiliate Marketing, and Sponsored Posts.

For blog hosting, I use and recommend DreamHost to get you started. Check out our posts and how to get started.

That’s it for now. What are some ways that you have created a side hustle while writing?
